Fuel prices in Manchester: what to know
Greater Manchester is ringed by the M60 orbital and fed by the M62, M56 and M61, so most drivers are never far from a busy forecourt. Prices tend to be keenest where supermarkets cluster — around Trafford Park, Salford, Stockport and Oldham — and a little higher at convenience-led sites close to the city centre and the motorway slip roads.
With a large commuter belt stretching out to Bolton, Bury and Altrincham, plenty of Manchester drivers fill up on the way in or out of town rather than in the centre itself. Comparing a few nearby stations before you commit is worthwhile here, because the dense network of forecourts means the cheapest option is often only a couple of minutes away.

- Local tip. The big supermarket forecourts around the M60 ring usually beat city-centre prices — check before you join the motorway.
